*terribly tickled*

Okay, okay, I can't help but post it on THIS journal anymore.

I was in Little Mysteries one day just buying books, and I saw an advertisement. The Gaia Gathering, a Canadian National Pagan Conference, is going to be in Halifax this year.

Guess where it's going to be held?

Saint Mary's University!

Why is this funny?

SMU is/was a Jesuit institution!

...

Sorry, the irony of that was too big for me not to post in here about it. *snarfsnarf*

Well, IIRC, the Jesuits have a bit of a soft spot for religious tolerance, do they not? Once upon a time, I thought the clergy was there to help those in need, give shelter, help with spiritual quests, and the like. I'm well aware that almost no clergy are like that ANY MORE... But ISTR that Jesuits have had a long history of being very benign and supportive of anyone needing guidance or shelter. It would surprise me if the institution were Catholic, sure... Jesuit? Not so much.

Unless I've got that all wrong or something...

They do, but it's still funny to me. Most of my time here I understood SMU as a Catholic institution though, so that may have contributed to my hysterics. *lol*
