GUISE GUISE

I went to do some shopping today. Needed some notions, and some bra things, since I cut out some more bra fabric for a new one. I think before I leave Hamilton, I would like a good few new bras, and I can give away my old ones. I have white and red fabric! Pink, ivory and white trimmings! Pink and red lace! Hooray!

I told one of the owners there, I was sad to miss the professional bra fitting course that's in September. It's a ten-week course and basically covers everything about making custom bras for other people. And she told me, "but we have a four-week one coming up." It runs from June 25 to July 20 (and the week after that is a corset-making class), costs $2700, and still taking students.

AND PING. I only fly out of Canada July 30th! I can take this class! And maybe put myself through school making bras! (Wait, I already have money for that.) And fund all my hobbies making bras! And maybe if I don't feel like staying in academia after I'm done my PhD I can just keep making them!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

maybe put myself through school making bras!

Gyahahah! That's pretty awesome. The ultimate feminist job--custom bras by women for women.

I should probably learn to sew my own. I've got weird proportions, so it's hard to find something my size. (I'm a healthy weight with itty bitty boobs and a big barrel chest. I think I'm a 38A)

Yeah, I learned because no matter what bra brand I buy it's always a crapshoot on whether it's comfortable in the long run. It's tough to find the material for it (the bra maker supply store in Hamilton is the only consolidated place for bra stuff) and it looks complicated, which is probably one of the big reasons why more women don't learn.

Turns out I'm actually 38D, when all this time, people at shops have been telling me I'm 36C =/ I think I may have put on weight too! I'm going to have to experiment with sizing for my bras. I'm also experimenting with wires as well, whether I can go without them or not.
