OKAY YOU GUYS WERE RIGHT. IT IS, INDEED, AWESOME. My parents joined me halfway through the first season, and still enjoyed it (although, I tried to get them to ask me what Appa is, just so I could say, "it's a flying bison" and neither of them bit the bait) and my brother only caught the last few eps of the first season and then demanded we continue watching the 2nd season and past the 11pm bedtime I set for myself (even though I was going to save the 2nd season for today). I'll probably finish it off today. It's irritating to watch with my parents, even though they really liked the show, because they. Would. Not. Stop. Asking. Questions. The same ones over and over again. I think I had to answer, both from parents AND brother, "why did he vanish?!" about five times.

Sometime about halfway through all this, I remembered one of the reasons why I don't like a lot of TV series, which is that their stories drag on FOREVER. I flopped over more than once, thinking to myself, "HOW LONG IS THIS SHOW? AND I'M STILL ON SEASON ONE?" And then I had to deal with my mom and brother asking, "MY GOD HOW LONG IS THIS SHOW LAH? STILL ON SEASON ONE?"

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AY-LEEN, YOU AND I REALLY NEED TO CHAT ABOUT THIS.

I ain't on Facebook, but I know a lot of you are.

CPAF stands for the Center for the Pacific Asian Family:
CPAF is the only organization that provides multilingual hotlines and emergency shelters serving Los Angeles County. They lost funding this year due to the recession and may have to shut down critical hotlines and shelters for the battered and abused women. Without the shelters, these victims will have nowhere to go. Currently, CPAF is in contention for $1 million dollars in the Chase Community Giving contest on Facebook after making the Top 100 out of half a million groups in round one. Vote for CPAF here.

Voting ends Jan 22, 9pm PST, which is in a few hours!

Yes, I am online. Yes, I should be watching and finishing off Avatar: The Last Airbender, but then you know what happened?

MY FAMILY HAPPENED.

Last night my parents and brother got on the bandwagon, and today I was going to continue, and then my dad woke up from his nap, my mum came home to do some mattress-shopping, and then THEY TOLD ME NOT TO WATCH ANYMORE. I was to go NAP.

NAP.

Like I'm a TWO YEAR OLD.

Now, see, my brother? He told me I could go ahead without him. He claims to not like the show anyway, and yeah, he's not as hardcore as I am, plus, he knows how to go watch it at his leisure. But my parents? Dad'll make me feel like shit if I don't wait. So will my mom. I want a vacation, guys.

STILL.

Shared geekery shouldn't mean I have to wait for the next episopde! T_T No one told me shared family geekery meant I had to wait until the 'rents get back from MATTRESS-SHOPPING to get to find out what happens to Iroh! D:

... And that, folks, is what will happen to you when your family gets interested in your geeky pursuits.
