jhameia: ME! (Default)
So, the Kobo Desktop app decided to get itself updated, and then SHIT WENT WRONG on my Kobo.

First, I couldn't find the books inside my device. THEN no matter how much I sync'd it, I just couldn't find anything! I found help online and took out the .sqlite file inside it. Then it would list all the files I manually loaded into the eReader, but I couldn't open them! Ugh. And re-sync'ing the stuff means I have to "finish" the books I'd already read, loaded from the desktop app.

Shit only started working after I reset to factory settings. In that time, Bart Lieb saw me Twitterplaining about not being able to access the Crossed Genres Year Two antho PDF I've been working on and sent me an ePub. Man, that was weird and AWESOME. (It also helps that I've been enjoying the antho so far!)

This was after today's blitzing buying spree:

From the Kobo Desktop app, I have: Spectra Magazine #1, Best of Beneath Ceaseless Skies, The Strangely Beautiful Adventures of Miss Percy Parker, The Concubine.

Then I bought, directly from the main site: Lightspeed Magazine #3, #4 and #6.

I also downloaded a bunch of ePub issues of BCS - #40, #43, #53 and #54.

So, lesson is this: the Kobo desktop application stinks for the Kobo classic. I have no idea what it's like on the new Kobo. If I DID want something through the Kobo bookstore, I could use the website. That said, I'm still kinda annoyed that I couldn't get Maurice Broaddus' KING MAKER, at all. At least I got to buy a ton of other things.
