Sep. 8th, 2011 11:55 pmSo I have not gotten ANY WORK DONE since Tuesday. I HAVE put together the roundtable article for Tor.com, though, and filled out a panelist survey for SteamCon III. I get no compensation for attending it (aside from a cheaper registration rate) so I guess I'll have to focus on chillin' like a villain.
I have also read Tobias Buckell's CRYSTAL RAIN, which was thoroughly enjoyable and I think what he's trying to do re: hybridity and writing specifically to a Caribbean audience was really visible, but that might be because I knew ahead of time that's what he tries to do with his work. I don't know if I'd call it steampunk, despite the presence of trains and airships; it doesn't have the same kind of retro-futuristic feel.
So I am going to attempt to wake up early tomorrow with a clear head and hunker down to work before meeting Sarah at 4pm.
