Sooo...
As it turns out, I'll be going to the West Coast again. Mainly for SteamCon in Bellevue, which I think I'm presenting at. However, there's also a bodypainter friend in the Bay area I've been meaning to work with. So I'll be heading out the weekend before.
So I'm planning on leaving Sat 8 Oct for San Francisco, staying with Roget for the weekend, but he does work weekdays.
I want to get into Seattle on Tuesday so I can hang out with Nisi for a bit, until Thursday night, when my cousin Andrea gets into Seattle and we check in.
The first question is: is there s way to get between San Fran and Seattle without flying? I checked Amtrak and there's a train from Emeryville. Which is also a 22 hour ride. I am kind of done with these 20+ hour things, but will consider it if it means I don't have to go through an obnoxious security check and check in my luggage (which will likely be just a carry-on bag... BUT I will have alcohol with me so I have to check that in.
The second question is, given that I will probably have Monday to wander around San Francisco by myself, what touristy things should I be doing? A friend suggested Fisherman's Wharf but I'm not averse to other ideas, like hanging out and the like.
(Also help help I don't know what I'm looking for in a PhD supervisor T_T I have been so bad at keeping track of names in various fields...)
