For some reason, No means Yes to a lot of people who still live in the last century. It still means Yes to people who think that girls are so weak-minded that with a bit of persuasion, they'll change their mind.
You'd be surprised at how a lot of men have internalized old patriarchal ideals to the point where when they're confronted with things like this, they get uncomfortable and shut up. You're just one of those rare men who think that No meaning No and Yes meaning Yes is common sense.
