So, moar lion dance pictures.
Here's a shot of the platform for the second lion dance of the evening:

I'm told by an aunt that this platform was innovated by Malaysian lion dancers, and exported to China, so many early international lion dance competitions would have them, but only Malaysian troupes would use them, and other troupes remained on the ground. Much like how yee sang was created in Ipoh and then exported to China.
This platform was then cover with gold cloth:

This lion was a white one!

Lion: OHAI! This is going to be a piece of cake!

Lion: OK, now that I'm closer, maybe not!

Lion: KOWAII!! O_O

Lion: It's not really that big, right? Right? ....

Lion: OK guys, I can totally do this right?

Helpers: Yes you can!
(The kids range from age 13 - 18, and they're assistants and there to hold the platform base and catch the dancers if necessary.)
Lion: I dunno, guys, that looks really high!

Helpers: Sure you can! Ka yau!
Lion: OK, OK, hupsy-daisy!

Lion: I did it! YaY me!

(Sorry, couldnt get a shot of him jumping.)

Lion: OK... now that I'm up here... HOW DO I GET DOWN?

Lion: Wha? You mean I have to JUMP OVER THERE?

Helpers: Yep!
Lion: Omg ;_; OK, here goes:
....
[AFTER MUCH WAFFLING]

Lion: I did it! I am cute and awesome!

Lion: I'm going to rest for a bit first and goyang kaki (hang out)
>
Lion: I'm a cutesy-wutesy lion, hanging above the crowd...

Helpers: OK, next leg!

Lion: NEXT LEG?!

Lion: Okay, holy crap, you want me to jump over THAT? It's HIGHER OFF THE GROUND THAN BEFORE!

Lion: I don't wanna ;_;

Lion: What?! COOKIES IF I DO?

Lion: Okay! You win! Here I go!

Lion: Yay me! Again!

[SOME JUMPING SHENANIGANS LATER]
Lion: OOPS!

(Falls like this occasionally happen. They're not usually a big deal, although some falls can cause broken bones and other unpleasant outcomes. In a competition, falling is a pretty big deal as the troupe loses points when it happens.)
Dancers: Okay, okay, we're cool, back on the track now.

Lion: Ohai, I'm back!

Lion: And awesome!

Lion: Look at me, I'm so awesome!
Dancers: Oh shit don't fall again.

Lion: Whee! Running on stilts!

The lion dance ended shortly after this. Usually it ends with the dancers flinging off the lion coat and bowing to the audience. Pretty awesome stuff.
Hope you liked the pics! And captions.
