A discussion over on a parenting forum about this lead to one poster saying this: "No doubt, western parenting styles are good - love, compassion, respect, praises are all needed and i would definetely follow these styles. But i do feel that the chinese parenting style is also needed. Look at the values or the asian kids. I believe they have more respect for their elders n have more moral values."
