Well OK most of today was not that bad. I went to fax stuff this morning, and shopped for a new zipper and some ivory material for the back pleat of my skirt. Wore my new vest out! People were very impressed. Bev (the bra maker teacher) asked me what I majored in, and I said, English, and she said, "what a waste. Should've gone into fashion design." XDDDD

It was a really hot day so I got a late start on my project, since I desperately needed a nap. Fried some chicken for dinner. We got some rain today too, which was nice. The next time it's that hot out though? I'm going waterfall hunting.

My skirt is almost done! It's a combination of three different skirt patterns: one Simplicity pattern, one just drafted from an existing skirt that I'm fond of, and the waistband and back pleat from the Victorian skirt I made. I have to attach a zipper, still trying to figure out how to do that with the enormous amounts of material at the back, and I'm adding eyelets at the back, ribbon on the inside of the waist band, so they can hide the zipper, and if I lose weight, I can use the ribbons to help hold up the skirt.

I also managed to puncture my finger tonight.

I mean, really puncture, as in, I have no idea how, but my finger got caught under the needle. And the needle went through. CLEAN THROUGH. TO THE OTHER SIDE. Granted it's the edge of the finger so it's not that bad but STILL, bad enough to see one hole bleeding, but TWO is a bit much.

I didn't even register it until I realized I broke yet ANOTHER Microtex needle (I like them for working with silk... they leave smaller holes). I found the tip and sighed. A little later? I found another part of the tip. I've never seen a needle break that way. At least there was no needle piece in my finger? I was a little freaked that there might be an infection but it seems to be healing nicely.

Oddly, it's right next to the bit of my finger which has been brown for years, ever since I got a splinter in there I couldn't remove. It's just about stopped being brown now, so I guess I was due for another mishap on that finger.

Prada studied mime, you know. I read a 3quarksdaily article recently on her and Schiaperelli, who both came to fashion from intellectual backgrounds in their thirties.
