Sunday Linkfest!

Good morning folks! I woke up late again today, despite going to bed at a reasonable hour last night (1am). I want to do laundry, but my neighbours have left their towels in the dryer, and I'm meeting people at 3pm to write. Yes, the Internet can help me make friends. So, here's a Sunday Linkfest!
From Racialicious, we learn that Charlie Chan might get a modern remake, why the phrase "half-blood" needs to be scrutinized more closely, and how to deal with a romantic partner ignoring racist remarks directed at you. There's also an open thread on white people doing anti-racist work.
Feministe has some interesting guest bloggers recently, like a lawyer who talks about her experiences with criminals and the the necessity of humanizing them. There're also posts on the complications involved with anti-capitalism, National Geographic's new "Afghan Girl" cover (by wheelchair dancer!), and lessons learned from blogging. (See, the Internet is useful.)
OK, so, FWD/Forward is always full of good stuff and I couldn't wade through it all in the week I neglected to read it, but here're some recent gems on the necessity of neutral language, assistive devices in pop culture, reproductive justice and BP Petrol's oil spill fucking over poor communities of colour. I feel bad for not being able to properly mull over all these cool articles, but I did snitch off cool links from them, on disability rights in Malaysia and Africa.
Recently, Penny Arcade which I don't read anymore had a strip that capitalized on the abandonment of torture victims in video games, with rape casually used (as it generally is, because we live in a rape culture). A pithy apology was issued. Was the joke successful? If you're focused on the dynamics of game mechanics.
While we're on pop culture...
I missed the whole thing about the Eminem/Rihanna music video, but bfp has some fascinating thoughts about it.
The Awl has a critique of the new Scott Pilgrim movie.
The Hathor Legacy quotes Tippi Hedren on Alfed Hitchcock. He was quite the asshole.
A Map of social networking sites from Mashable.
Back to race politics:
Tami of What Tami Said tells us what "so ghetto" really means.
So, there was a Chinese Exclusion Act way back when (I don't know this stuff, I'm not USian) and Chinese immigrants would be detained on Angel Island. And they would write poetry on walls. Together.
So not only does France hate Muslims, it also wants to oust Romani.
Simon Moya-Smith of I Am Not A Mascot (who has the most hilarious tweets), has some fine things to say about the hypocrisy surrounding outrage at building "a mosque at Ground Zero".
Here's a rant about + smackdown on white people whinging about guilt and blame and responsibility and why-oh-why-do-I-have-to-bear-this-burden.
Onwards to "Uncategorized"...
Well, this one falls under "gender": What Women Want and How Not to Give it To Them, i.e. how to fuck up any chance of gender equality in your workplace.
And this one falls under "class": Poor People Aren't Supposed to Want Nice Things. Because they're poor. How are they going to be not poor if they keep wanting nice things?
Here's a re-design of bank notes. For starters, instead of horizontal, they're vertical. I also like their choice of imagery.
This goes under "Reviews": Steampunk Scholar reviews Wonderdark, a Afro-Asiatic faerypunk story. He's got some impressively good things to say about it!
These go under "Nifty Stuff": Fantasy fic in Bahasa Indonesia and a visual of what the world might look like in year 3000.
