NaNoWriMo ideas

So... on Facebook I was like "porn? romance novel? YA novel? Hmmm" and everyone was like "ALL OF THEM" except I am not suicidal and I don't think people understood that each phrase meant a completely different idea that would be difficult to overlap while still maintaining cohesion. Also it will have to be written alongside a dissertation prospectus. I aim to use NaNo for getting started on a new manuscript, not necessarily to hit the 50k wordcount (which from past experience I know is possible, even when I'm doing seminars and TA'ing at the same time, hence why I just dropped off from doing it the last couple of years... and the trouble of getting downtown to events here is a HUGE turn-off. However, there appears to be a pretty strong contingent of UCR students so I may try to rally with them instead).
So if any of you were curious as to which ideas I'm currently wrestling with, here they are
Idea 1: The post-apocalyptic YA novel
It's a couple thousand years in the future after a fuck-up in biological warfare almost wipes out large numbers of humans. They are saved by the reveal of supranaturals, humans who live extraordinarily long lives, with extremely slow metabolisms and hardy immune systems. and are responsible for several myths of immortal creatures. One in ten of their offspring inherit this genetic mutation, and given training over time, they can control various bodily functions that give rise to the mystical powers that immortals have. Supranatural and humanity live side-by-side in concentrated settlements, with pockets of human separatists and supramortal supremacists, who still continue various oppressive traditions that render them outliers.
16-year-old Cahaya goes into a suicidal torpor out of grief of losing her parents, the de facto supramortal protectors of her city, in a fatal accident, and awakens to find her city-scape changed as a result of separatist and supremacist warfare. Most supramortals have been killed or are in hiding, her family especially targeted for their popularity and history with the general population. Cahaya has got to grow up fast, learn how to harness her supramortal talents and protect the underground resistance.
Idea 2: The vampire YA novel
Seward Enterprise has, since the 19th century, introduced medical miracles: life-prolonging medicines and groundbreaking surgery techniques. At the beginning of the 21st century, Seward Enterprises has a monopoly on pharmaceutical products. Environmentalists and local communities surrounding their factories blame the wealthy corporation for the rise of ghouls, victims of a psychotic disorder whose numbers have risen by the decade, attacking people and causing terror in impoverished neighbourhoods.
VT Security runs a profitable service eradicating the ghouls and providing bodyguards to London's wealthiest, who are unaware that the charismatic businessman Vladimir Drake and his best security guards are vampires. Escaped from Seward laboratories, Drake, Dracula, has sworn revenge, on the field of wealth and politics.
Eya. Angry at the ghouls stalking her neighbourhood, pissed off at Seward Enterprises for poisoning her immigrant family, resentful of VT Security for stealing all the best community protectors.
One night, Eya meets Vladimir Drake.
Idea 3: The utopic romance novel
"When I was born, my father saw my white hair and decided to call me the unimaginative name of Silver."
"My own parents demonstrated a similar lack. I was reportedly a difficult child, and was gifted with the unimaginative name of Contra."
Before being sold off into marriage, Silver runs away one winter night, seeking the town she has heard so much about: a rich farming city teeming with small industries where even the poor eat well, under the watchful eyes of diplomat-governor Contra, who keeps his outpost home teetered between two kingdoms jealously wishing to expand into the other.
This self-indulgent novel follows the misadventures of two easily-cranky people goofily falling in love and sexually experimenting with each other and others alongside royal inheritance scandals, scheming politicians, the establishment of mass education systems, prostitutes turned spies to carry out a rescue mission, and trying to refrain from turning the town bookstore into the center of public affairs.
Idea 4: porn stories
A series of erotic short stories involving langsuir, shapeshifting civet cats and crocodiles, ulek mayang, a take on orang minyak, sentient plants, and Martians.
Also super indulgent and mostly because I want to know if I could actually pull off these ideas.

I'm just tossing out ideas -- take everything I say with a grain of salt. A huge grain of salt.
