Oh man, it's that time to update this again as of June 2020:

This is the DW of Jaymee Goh! There is not much fannish stuff here, although I do on occasion post about media I'm consuming. Mostly this is personal diary stuff where I try to record things happening in my life, so that I have a record and also so I can remember things better. I always remember things better when I take the time to write it down and process stuff.

I'm a science fiction and fantasy writer, editor, essayist, and reviewer. Most of my bibliography is available on my website: jaymeegoh.com

I'm part of the Malaysian Writers Association, the Carl Brandon Society, and the Science Fiction Writers Association (or Science Fiction Writers of America, depending on how America-centric you're feeling).

I did a PhD in Comparative Literature where I wrote a dissertation on steampunk and whiteness. Steampunk comprised a huge part of my fandom activity for a time.

I'm ethnically Chinese (Hainanese) and nationality-wise Malaysian, firmly ID as POC in solidarity with Black friends.

Hey, random hello. dW dropped me here as I was clicking the "explore random journals" link. As far as I can tell, we're fans of Tchaikovsky. I guess they truly go for randomness. Anyway .. hello :)

Hello! You also appear to be a photographer, and I used to do nude modeling back in the day. So maybe the random journal exploration is doing its job!

Yeah, it's a very cool coincidence, I think. I think I had it in my interests over at LJ, but neglected to add it here. Also, haven't done modeling in forever and a half. I did see your DA, hence why I mentioned it :D I have a tag about modeling, but it was last used in 2010. Maybe the random journal thing is being TRULY random and doesn't take profile info into account?

Ha, now I'll have to look at LJ and your tag when i have more time. Are you on dA, or were you just looking to see who the crazy person was randomly commenting?

Haha, the latter, because usually people just follow without saying anything, and then introduce themselves at a con or something. It's really nice though! I'd love to see more people on DW!!

I found several of your photos on Tumblr through the tag you posted earlier. They are beautiful. Without a doubt, my favorite is probably the simplest one .. you are nude, but not showing your body, sitting on a chair. There's a shyness to it that is amazing. I have to say, I have this thing for the female back. You have another photo that you relate to a generic Grecian (I think.. not looking at the Tumblr link right now) pose, which is amazing. There are so many I want to comment on! How did you feel taking nude photos in public, in a city at night? Isn't Singapore very .. conservative .. about those things? I have taken outdoor nudes myself (I think there are a couple of dA). There is a certain rush to it for me.

Related to your latest comment, I never friend/follow someone without asking first! I'm not the most virtuous person, but I think it's rather rude to assume someone wants to be friends. Following on something like dA or Tumblr is different, but on a blogging site, it's kind of assumed (at least by me) that there will be some kind of conversation, not just stalking and gawking.

And now I'm kind of laughing to myself because I said hi to you initially because of your interest in Tchaikovsky (my personal favorite). I didn't expect to have nude photography in common with you.

It was a very guerrilla strategy XD Basically I wore clothing easy to slip in and out of, the photographer had an assistant to do look out, and we wandered the streets at like 10pm on a weekday night looking for interesting places. Then I'd drop my clothes, run, strike a pose for a few shots, run back. So it was pretty fun; I'd never shot in an urban setting before, and I don't think I've since done another outdoor city nude.

I'm not the best at replying and commenting myself, so generally people following me doesn't bother me much. I've also had people who engaged with me a lot and ended up being kinda stalk-ery and their comments felt like they were gawking regardless (or at least being very entitled, it was gross).

Nude photography is definitely one of those suuuuuuper rare and random interests to have, and finding people who actually do it too even rarer!!!
