Here's something I wrote down in 17th Century today to get me started on actually writing the silly thing. I actually have to get to writing on my paper for Post-Modern, since the paper for that one is due next week. I'm not happy with myself - really should have thought about this earlier.
Introduction:
Thesis statement:
Fate
- definition of fate - how fate works. Look into Book II of PL.
- Inevitability of fate (applied to Satan as well)
- Discussion of fate as in Divine Evil and Origin of Evil articles.
God
God representing Problem of Evil within PL context - Divine Evil article
Punishment of an action already known - part of God's plan - ineffability of God's Plan means that PL can't really censure Satan for what he did, he might have been going along with the Plan.
Satan - refer to Book I. I know there's another scene where he returns and I've got to find that.
Satan as politician
Satan as leader of Hell
Hell's inhabitants enduring despite their punishment.
Refer to Hero or Fool and Lucifer and Prometheus.
Adam and Eve
Having had no real maturity in Eden - curious but denied knowledge therefore being unable to really judge - refer to Adam's reaction to Christ (Hate in Heaven section of Origin of Evil article); not totally understanding spirituality.
Discuss anxiety of faith untested, and the Felix Culpa has given Adam the chance for redemption through his actions, conscious action. Refer Michael's Consolation article.
Eve's agency heightened, taking responsibility that Adam might have denied her. Adam's love tested and dialogue opened between the two through the felix culpa. Refer to Way to Pardon article.
Conclusion:
Restate thesis.
Last Unicorn quote. Yes, I am quite the dork.
