Things to do
Jan. 25th, 2007 03:45 pmThe pre-show will have to be discussed further. First I hear it's going to have a circus theme. Then it's going to simulate the theatre atmosphere of the 16th century. I want to decide what exactly it is, and work with it. Right now, things are still vague, and Paula's so busy (and so have I, really) that there's not much we can do.
- cast list - I need a list of who's on the cast, so I have a better idea of what I can do. Paula, despite my asking, hasn't given it to me yet. This is more than a little annoying, but I can deal.
- venue list - we'll be performing on-campus at specific places, namely
-- Sobey Building Lobby
-- Loyola Colonnade
-- Student Centre Cafeteria
-- Gorsebrook Lounge??
-- Dockside Cafeteria
- plot list:
-- poet reciting poetry to audience
-- lovers being chased around by priest (asking audience members to hide them)
-- girl running away from suitors
-- whores. Yes, that's all the plot list we really need.
-- drunkards complaining about love?
-- games?
- costuming - this unfortunately can't go without the decision this weekend. This weekend we'll be meeting to decide what to do with costumes and whatnot.
All double-casted cast members will have a photo session for giant posters. I haven't decided if the giant posters should be black+white, or in colour. Probably black and white.... except blue and white. I'll ask Glenn what colour should be used, but I don't think full colour will work. For one thing, it'll be done during rehearsal times, and no one's in costume yet.
The following roles are major enough to warrant a photoshoot:
Viola (double)
Olivia (double)
Malvolio (double)
Feste (double)
Orsino
Sir Toby Belch
Sir Andrew Aguecheek (double)
Fabian(?)
The problem with Fabian as a major role is that he's actually pretty important, since he's part of the farce that sends Malvolio to the cuckoo house. The thing is, he doesn't even appear before this. Remember when Maria first discusses the letter she'll plant, and she says, "The fool (Feste) will make a third..." and when she turns around, the Fool is gone. So since the Fool won't play, Fabian comes in. He also explains at the end what the conspiracy was. Kinda like the fool without teh funny. I'll just ask Glenn Walton.
Ideally, I would have someone from Arts & Entertainment come do this for me, but I haven't heard a peep from the Journal since I first pitched the idea to them. That's the problem with the Journal I guess - they don't really go out and assign tasks to people.
Interviews with:
- Glenn Walton
- All above-mentioned roles (to appear the same time as a poster with them in it)
- Tech crew on set-building (Lenny & Andre)
Rehearsal pictures (teaser pics)
All this should keep me busy.
Man, all these jobs make me sound more important than I really am -_-
