I've probably mentioned Lulu Larude, Halifax's leading drag queen, a few times. She hosts the talent show Five Minutes of Fame at Reflections on Thursdays. Not only is she a great entertainer, she is incredibly good and kind in and out of drag. In the local gay community she is cited as one of the greatest inspirations Halifax has, and her passion and exuberance are practically substantial.

Lulu Larude, aka Chuck Gillis, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour in August 2006. Since then, she has continued to perform as much as she can despite her continual headaches, the partial blindness, and the financial despair she and her new husband are facing. As a result of her illness she has had to give up a few performances.

Now, however, she has been told by doctors that she has two months left to live.

Since she is a strong believer in miracles, she is asking as many people out there to pray for her, or hope for her, or wish for her to get well, or just spare a thought for her, at 11am Halifax time (-4GMT), Sunday February 4th.

Oh, the time is so there's a moment of concentrated prayers all at the same time, rather than scattered prayers here and there. Mass prayer is a beautiful thing (and a reason why I love places of worship).

Well, in Bangkok you're GMT +7, so if it's 11am in Halifax, it's (let's see... 3pm in London, then... 10pm in Bangkok. So for you the target time is 10pm on Sunday.
