Angi's Snake and Me

My friend Angi got a snake a few months ago, and I went to visit it the other day before taking her out for a chocolate chiller at Second Cup.

The snake, L, is the most adorable thing ever.

Angi and I are going out to buy me a pair of pet ratties. Angi has to pay $7 per rat for her snake every week, so we thought it would be better for us if we just bought me a couple of mice and gave her babies everytime I could. It's economical. She'll save on feeding her snake. I'll save because Angi will help me pay for some food once in a while.

Rats could never replace XNedra, though.

Just remember that if you're gonna give her snake your mice-babies, you should freeze them till they're dead and then thaw them out first.

Live prey can be difficult for snakes to catch when they're not used to their food moving. ^^;;

oooh! Good idea!! We were wondering how to feed them to L... freezing them first sounds like a great idea.

I'm predicting that most of the babies will die from puberty, since L only eats once a week.

Awww... Is that really the preferred way of doing it? Seems so sad... ~_~ Guess I can't think of anything better, though.

Actually I'm not sure of the most humane way to kill a mouse without poisoning it's body for the snake. But the snake won't eat prey that isn't whole, and freezing is the best way to keep them 'fresh' so to speak.

That is one awesome-looking snake :)

My first reaction to the 'feeding the babies to the snake' was 'OMG!! That's so mean!!'. But then I realized that keeping them alive doesn't do anyone any favours and that in nature, those babies would be eaten by snakes anyways.
