I have to say sorry to my LJ audience.
One of my flaws has always been the inability to separate the personal from the public.
As a result, my LJ has become a mindless, rambling mush of personal bullshit that most of you probably don't want to be subjected to.
I'll be graduating university in a few months. But for what it's worth, I'll post more intelligent discussions for you to actually enjoy and less drama. I'll post reading responses once more and actually put my back into it.
Candy Poses' blog made me realize that blogs really do need to be limited and focused. Hell, even in my research papers I'm required to be limited and focussed... that's part of good writing. This LJ was originally meant for academic thought. This is supposed to be my ivory tower blog. It's very nice to be a sort of Renaissance humanist and be able to talk on any subject matter, but that in all actuality means I begin transforming into a common denominator: jack(shit) of all trades, master of none.
Tomorrow I will post a little more about modeling.
For tonight, I leave you with a super neat discovery I made yesterday.
Some of you know that my online handle that I use pretty much EVERYWHERE is Jha'Meia. This was a fancification of my name in a Mary Sue-ish story I wrote several years back, and used it to register at ShinraOnline. It got me noticed, and I started using it EVERYWHERE. People would ask me, "How the hell do you pronounce that??"
I would tell them, "The 'jh' is like the Frenchy 'sh' sound. Pause before saying 'Meia'."
Eventually everyone just kept typing "Jha" because it's frankly awfully easy to type and it stuck for a long, long while. Since 2001, in fact. Wow.
Anyways. in Arabic class we're learning how to introduce ourselves and basic conversation. Stuff like "Hi, how are you, my name is ____ from ____."
There was one particular word I kept on pronouncing during class which sounded odd... not odd because it's Arabic, but odd because it very closely resembled my online handle of so many years. I'm used to reading it, not hearing or saying it. The word is "jhaa-may^ya" (the ^ is representative of the "ayn" sound).
It means "university."

Date: 2007-10-11 03:19 am (UTC)This might sound weird or tabloid-whoring-ish but I like knowing 'personal bullshit'. It makes me realize that my friends are human too, that they have issues too and it helps me put things in perspective at times. Not to mention, it's nice to know that my friends trust me enough to share their 'personal bullshit' with me.
It's cool that your SO handle means 'university' in Arabic. It suits you too, considering how intelligent and knowledgeable you are.
You failed
Date: 2008-01-10 01:42 am (UTC)You even dismiss yourself and your emotions in this post...stop dwelling on the negatives and, for the love of all that is good (literally), stop talking down about everything. Your posts talk like the sky is going to fall, give your head a shake and be grateful for what you have.
You've grown up in an affluent family, you live in the wonderful country of Canada, you have clean water and good food, you are a pretty girl, nobody is out to get you and up until recently you had a boyfriend who adored you. Stop talking down about everything, give your head a shake and go for a walk.
