Hey, Halifax Friends?

Would anybody be able to tell me what party Sheila Fougere is in? 'Cos she's runnin' for Mayor and all, and castusalbuscor and I met her this summer at Gaystronima and I'm curious. It doesn't say on her site, and I'm not savvy enough to tell between party colours on flyers.

Five years. You'd think I'd get Canadian politics after five years. Yeesh.


EDIT: WAIT!!!! Canada has more than TWO viable political parties??? (*counts* Tories, Conservatives, Green, Liberals, NDP... anymore?) Holy crap, how cool are you, Canada?

Careful - "Tories" is just a nickname for the old Progressive Conservatives (federal (defunct) and provincial) and also the new (federal) Conservatives. You could say that there still remain slight ideological distinctions between the Progressive Conservative provincial parties and the new federal Conservative party, but most people would count them as one metaparty.

Also, our municipal government is officially non-partisan. Of course, many of the representatives hold party memberships. But everyone would rather be judged on their actions and their stance on the issues. There is no party structure in Council, so it can be thought of as a collection of independently-minded constituency representatives. There's no party whip to keep people voting along strict party lines. It's pretty sweet, really.

Yep, I'm bloody still in Japan. =) Fortunately, I am still enfranchised: I mailed in my federal ballot this morning, and e-voting in the HRM election opens tonight - everyone on the voter's list got a mailing with a pin to use with e-voting should they wish, and Mom phoned me up and read it to me.

Christmas Day! I'll leave via Itami > Haneda, Narita > JFK on Christmas Eve, then fly JFK > Stanfield on the 25th.

I am SO on countdown. It's not the country so much as it is the low-paying contract job I'm stuck on.
