jhameia: ME! (Writing in my Blood)

Yeap! I went looking through my old posts for this one introducing my cast of characters. It's all glossing over them, but in general is fairly accurate. And added a bit more too, to give you guys an idea of where I get my inspiration from.

My MC is Jussy, princess adventuress! She is on a quest to find herself, a way to wake her kingdom, and find a mysterious virtuous prince whose words of wisdom she once heard in her dreams. On her person she carries a variety of useful items such as a shiny sharp sword, a change of clothes, a towel, a doombox, some cheese, and lots of bobby pins. She's a growing blonde girl who tans badly. She's also a hundred and sixteen, but really only sixteen, and this is hard!

Jussy is inspired by Princess Aurora in Disney's Sleeping Beauty, whose features were in turn based on Audrey Hepburn, and She-Ra, Princess of Power. Don't tell me I'm the only one who remembers her.

Aiding her is her loyal chiiroa (magical cat-bunny thing, ie, the Magical Animal Sidekick), who does the nightwatch, listens for approaching footsteps, bites the ankles of enemies, and is a very good scarf in winter.

Chii is a magical squirrel-cat-bunny thing I created when I was 15.

Advising her is her handmirror. It likes to make a lot of wry observations about human nature, throw in cynical tidbits, leer at the ladies, and keep her away from boys. (OK, it doesn't really mean the last bit, but Jussy really would prefer it if it didn't want to keep watching all the time.) It really was just a handmirror, but it gains sentience through some messed up magical physics during one of Jussy's adventures. It is the Magical Chatterbox Sidekick. It fits into her hand and is octagon-shaped.

Mirror is inspired by Stephen Fry, Vampire Hunter D's hand-fungus-thing and that one monologue in the Vagina Monologues.

Somewhere along the line there is a Dude Who Won't Shut Up About How Cool He Is (he has no name yet), who is also a wandering hero himself, except he's a bonehead to non-attention-whores like Jussy. He also thinks he's Jussy's prince, except he's not, and is forever getting Jussy into more trouble by trying to "rescue" her. He is six feet tall, wears impressive fur vests made of bears he killed himself, and is built like a fairly solid tree.

This guy is inspired by OTHAR TRGVASSEN, GENTLEMAN ADVENTURER! Of the Girl Genius universe.

His brother is Cailen, who actually IS Jussy's prince, except she doesn't know what he looks like, but they get along remarkably well. He's a quiet type who, like Jussy, prefers observing people. He's a brilliant singer, a lousy cook, a good kisser ("You think so?" "I do think so." "Can I watch?" "NO") and not too bad with a variety of weapons himself. But he'd have to be, spending a fair amount of time hero-ing, himself. He'll like her, but will think she's out of his league, since she's looking for a bona fide prince, and he's an illegitimate son. He is also six feet tall, but wears deerskin tunics and is also built like a tree, albeit a younger tree.

Cailen is inspired by Prince Philip of Disney's Sleeping Beauty, and all the best things I liked about my ex-boyfriends.

Of course not, I'm new here.

But it doesn't tell me what a doombox is. What's a doombox?

A BOX OF DOOM!

Wouldn't that be obvious?

Hmmm... Bob from the Dresden Files had an awesome doombox, but I can't seem to find a screenshot for it.

You know, I didn't remember Dresden Files ever having a doombox, but then I realized that you were talking about the TV show, not the book series.
