From an English major with some interest in linguistics and grammar and rhetoric.

Obama's speeches tend toward parallel structures in how he arranges his sentences. Not only that, but they're sometimes triple phrases too.

Will elaborate more when I get the time. Or if anybody asks.

Actually, I had in mind the wonderful speeches of Queen Elizabeth I, which we used in our English Prose Style class in my second year, to study parallel structure in speeches, and how this is useful in rhetoric because it gives a speech such a wonderful rhythm, enabling it to stick with the listener for much longer.

I am better at processing written information than spoken so I won't grok his speech until I read it.
