I would like to put my voice out there and say:

SHE IS SO DAMN CUTE NOW.

On the left is a publicity-airbrushed picture of her while she was doing Dukes of Hazzard. She was working out two hours a day, six days a week to maintain that figure. She was on a strict diet of low-carbs, high protein. She called it "emotionally destructive".

On the right is a candid shot of her now, being her natural shape, living her life the way normal people do. And she's fat enough to warrant representations like this:

FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE CARTOONIST.

Ms. Simpson's weight is NOT for public consumption. Gossip-hungry vampires who read shit that condemns Jessican Simpson for being "fat" should get an actual hobby.

Let me reiterate: some people are naturally skinny, and some people are naturally fat. Neither should be condemned for being what they are naturally, particularly if it's something as superficial as body weight.

Look, it's an Neardenthal who thinks the female body is only for consumption!

FAIL.

Don't be a hater my dykie friend! I'm a female feminist who thinks Jessica Simpson is getting hotter as she shuns Hollywood's most repressive stereotypes. You did not FAIL at trolling.

I'm not a dyke.

And responding to a post railing against superficiality with how she is more sexually consumable now and "fap fap" is just creepy.

Now, if you'd just agreed and said "yeah, she's bloody hot now that she rejects Hollywood standards!" I would have been less hostile.

But your "fap fap" and then calling me "dykie" just implies to me we're not on the same page.

Heh.

I'm not a fan of the outfit but OH my god she is freaking adorable! I'd love to have hips like that. Damn. <3

It continues to bug me that things are getting to the point where "anorexic" and "overweight" are synonymous in some areas.

I'm trying to set that cartoonist on fire with my mind right now.

It's like these celebs just can't win. Half an inch on and they're overweight, half an inch off and they're underweight. What gives?

At least folks off in the muppetsphere are willing to occasionally mention the word "underweight" - I was starting to wonder if people'd forgotten such a concept exists and had just decided that "concentration camp survivor" and "blue whale" were neighbors (kinda like that fucktard cartoonist - figures he was with the NY Post - did).

I've had a short fuse on that sort of thing ever since a depressing number of my friends were somehow convinced for awhile that "healthy weight minus 25 percent" was somehow the acceptable maximum. %P

She's not fat at all. She's still below a normal weight for her height. The outfit distorts her body and makes her look strange. If Jessica took that belt off, she'd lppk perfectly normal.

She looks fine! I like how she looks. She looks healthy and normal.
Seriously, she looks NOTHING like that cartoon. Not even remotely. She'd need to add 30+ kilos before she comes close to *that* image.

I really wish that society would stop judging people on looks/weight this much. Not everyone can look like Jessica in the left pic. But I really wish that they'd stop making people feel bad if they're more like the right pic.

She's not even fat. She's thick, which is perfectly fine, very appealing to some and really could just be that outfit too. Put on a little extra and the old wardrobe doesn't quite hang like it used to, it happens.

This just goes to show what the media thinks is the "healthy" figure/appearance for celebrities, models and ultimately women.

There are some exceptions - like the Spanish organisers of the annual modelling show banning size 0 models (in comparison to UK designers and models who see themselves as hangers and not people).

There is curvy and then there is fat. Ms Simpson is just curvy in all the right places and if you look at her past photos, she was never thin/slim to begin with.

Heaven forbid anyone famous actually look like a realistic human!

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing with being lean and trim, but a lot of the celebs that are getting praised as super hot just look boney and malnourished, at least in my opinion.

If she's happier with herself this way than she was working out for two hours a day on a highly restricted diet, then this is way better. It shows you don't need to be rail-thin to be happy and beautiful (I put happy first, because anyone who's happy with themselves automatically looks 200% better, no matter what size)

And she's a very good looking woman!

On a similar note, someone just pointed me at this post (http://daphnep.livejournal.com/418917.html), in which folks are starting to give classical painting/sculpture the same treatment. Ugh.

Real women have curves. Enough said. End of story.
No woman should ever be forced into a body she's not happy with.

That's not true. Even women who don't have curves are still women. We shouldn't be told whether we're women or not based on whether we have curves. Saying that is not fair to women who don't have curves.

My apologies, it was a comment made in haste. I agree with you entirely on that note. What I truly meant to say was that it was, is, and always will be wrong to try to force and coerce women to be a certain body type over what nature had intended for them.

She's cute. As representative for the caveman gender (HURRR BOOBIES), I'd do her.

Celebrity news is for idiots, though. I don't even know why people bother.
