Today, I submitted my electronic apps for UC Santa Cruz and Davis.

my statements look stupid my personal history looks too similar to the statement of purpose i have no academic accomplishments to speak of since all my "accomplishments" happen outside of academia i dont know how to tie in the breadth of everything i'm interested in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhhh.

I'm reconsidering the Brown application, since I have no academic accomplishments to speak of, and they have a full tab for it. Also, Brown's deadline is also the 15th and I'm not sure I want to make all my profs write letters so soon, especially since they also have to write them for the other schools.

Riverside needs financial statements from me, but other than that, I've got most of the other things checked off.

Also, the GREs are a fucking money racket--$12 just to hear my scores over the phone! I can barely comprehend this.

AND, in better news, one of the profs who's agreed to co-supervise me at UBC Okanagan emailed me to check whether I'm still applying, and I am, of course, but at the end of December, after the UC schools are done.

My steampunk romance re-write comes along; I have 13k from the first 7k. The first draft by itself is about 25k, and it's taking on a larger cast and more layers than I expected. I feel I want to see more explosions, somehow, somewhere. That means a LOT more new material has to come out. Hmmm. Must think on this.

I have apparently also become an agony aunt again, for three completely different people in completely different social circles. The only thing they have in common is that they're all Malaysian.

Yeah.

OK.

Monday, Brown application, and should have Riverside done by then. Also, steampunk Shakespeare coming apace!

Does one of them happen to be Yuki? I've been contacting her via e-mail but she hasn't been responding, is she okay?

She seems to be. I had to tell her off for using me as a comfort outlet but when I checked in on her, she mentioned having received job leads from you. She doesn't have net connection at home, so has to go to the cybercafe every so often, which costs her money, of course.
