Darn! My new skirt is coming along great but I thought I cut the waistline pieces too small last night to fit the main skirt, so rather than take in the seams even more I cut longer waistline pieces. Now I think the skirt may end up a bit too loose? It's hard to tell, what with all the pins poking into me. I might take in the back seam a bit more.

It's gonna be so sweet though. The kind of skirt my mom would've wanted me to wear when I was like, 12. Haha. And it has POCKETS!

Pockets are an essential part of making anything that is pretty into something that is pretty and awesome!

Yeahhh... I think if more women could design their own clothes, we'd see a lot more pockets. Way to go!

I vote with my dollars because I REFUSE to buy pants that don't have back pockets where I can put my wallet.

I used to buy pants that were pocketless if the fit was awesome, but then I'd have to have Alan carry my wallet, and I'd have to ask for it back when we got to the checkout counter. Alan's a demure doll & is happy to carry my stuff, but I felt fucking angry and helpless having to have a man carry my shizz. It was like some ongoing symbol of handing my power over to someone with a penis, and having to ask for it back when I needed it.

Screw that. I'm never carrying a purse, and I will always have pockets for my butch man-wallet. ;) (My objection to purse has little to do with its feminine connotations, BTW, but rather than I easily lose them. The purse gets annoying to carry so I'll set it down and then forget about it)

I always get paranoid that I'll misplace purses! Or that I'll forget to take them with me if I get too used to them. I only carry one around when I'm putting special effort into looking pretty and am thus self-conscious all evening.

I've been drawing some designs with pockets, and learning how fabric falls. The idea behind shallow pockets or pocketlessness is that bulging things ruin the silhouette of the figure? Which I think is stupid, I think there is a terrible patriarchal politics behind insisting that women show their silhouette all the time. I think there're ways to design clothes which show off both figure and still have plenty of pockets. Feh.

I'm firmly convinced that there is a way to look feminine while still having pockets all over the place. And I don't trust fashion designers at all anymore to cater to that on a regular basis, so it's to the machine with me!
