[livejournal.com profile] kajafoglio posted this, mentioning how the singer/violinist would make a great Gil (Girl Genius' Gilgamesh Wulfenbach, also one of the greatest hotties in the comic world), and I concur:

He is SUCH a cutie.

Because I'm slightly obsessive like that, I hunted down another vid of his:

I LOVE those lyrics. They're so sweet:

SO VERY CUTE )

They're kinda non-committal, non-demanding, and non-angsty, and just happy and taking joy in the relationship as it is. OMG SO CUTE.

(And of course I haff to use a picture of Der Kestle for today.)

I don't really celebrate it at all, and I'm looking forward to the extra cheap chocolate tomorrow, but in the spirit of today, which really just celebrates love, and we could all use more days that do so, here is my favourite love song, which has been my favourite ever since I heard it in 1996.

Gary Numan's You Walk In My Soul, from the equally excellent album Sacrifice. You should buy it, because it's brilliant. My brother bought the album featuring cover art from Joseph Michael Linser, the artist of Dawn, a red-headed goddess archetype.

"You Walk In My Soul" was written for a woman Gary Numan had been dating at the time. She was a fan at first, and they got to know each other better after they drove together to a venue he was playing at (and by that, I mean just as friends). They started dating, and he wrote this song for her. Sometime after, they got married, and now have two kids together.

I was thinking about songs that best fit my mood, when I realized, there's a perfect song which expresses the reasons for my deeper feelings at this time.

Isn't it just cute? My priorities are in order!

Title: Boy, You'll Want A Woman Soon
Genre: Song re-write
Theme: Growing up
Comments: Neil Diamond's Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon was covered by Urge Overkill for the Pulp Fiction movie, and while I adore the Urge Overkill cover (it's got such great music), the lyrics really really really aggravate me. The relationship propoganda of "when you grow up you need a partner", the idea of a man getting all emo because his girlfriend's family doesn't approve of him (there's probably a reason, dammit), and the general tone of "please be with me" annoys me a great deal.

So, I re-wrote the lyrics. Obviously, the song is directed to all young straight males out there, and also to girls too. Please, girls and boys, grow the hell up before embarking on a relationship. And guys, if I'm dancing in front of you, don't assume I'm dancing with you and try to stop me from my groove! *mad*

Title: Skanks
Genre: poetry, song lyrics
Theme: nightclub shenanigans, sex
Comments: After being ditched by a previous group at the Dome, friends and I moved to the Attic (right above the Dome and plays a different kind of music and has live bands). Ryan and James were standing around the couch where Robert, I and Sean were on, and Robert asked Ryan something, and Ryan pointed at James and said "well, breeder" and then at me and Sean, "Skanks". Sean and I were like "cool, we're skanks."

This really ought to be a song, and I know it would've made for a pretty awesome one if I had any song-writing capability, but as it happens, I score nil in that department, so blah. Anything in brackets would be spoken. It should be rather radio-friendly - if dirty slutty chavunist hiphop songs can make it on the airwaves, this should be able to XD
